Dosha benefits: Pitta
Ingredients:
- Kokum 4-5 pieces
- Tur Dal ½ cup
- Fenugreek seeds 1 tbsp
- White pumpkin 100 gms
- Red chilies 4
- Ginger ½ inch piece
- Green chilies 2
- Turmeric Powder ¼ tsp
- Salt to taste
- For Seasoning:
- Gingelly Oil 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds ¼ tsp
- Fenugreek ½ tsp
- Asafetida 2 pinches
- Curry leaves 2 sprigs
Recipe:
- Soak the dal and fenugreek seeds the previous night.
- Add turmeric powder to the soaked dal and pressure cook.
- Cut the pumpkin into 1-inch pieces.
- Soak kokum in water for 10 minutes.
- Grind green chilies and ginger to a smooth paste.
- Add vegetable, ginger-chili paste, broken red chilies to the cooked dal and boil for few minutes.
- Add soaked Kokum in the end (Do not squeeze).
- Allow it to boil for some more time and then add salt.
- Heat oil, season mustard seeds, fenugreek, curry leaves, Asafetida and pour on top of the dal.
- Mix well and serve with cooked rice or with Indian bread.
