Dosha benefits: Vata
Ingredients:
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups rice washed and drained
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 tbsp oil
- 1 cup walnuts chopped (can be substituted with peanuts or cashews)
- 3 tbsp block mustard seed
- 2 tbsp Urad Dal (yellow split peas can be substituted)
- 1/3 tsp turmeric
- 1 cup lemon juice
- Curry leaves
Recipe:
- Boil water in a saucepan and keep aside.
- Add oil to frying pad. When hot add mustard seeds.
- Once the sees pop, add curry leaves, urad dal and turmeric.
- Add rice and walnuts, sauté for a few minutes.
- Then add to the boiled water.
- Season with salt.
- Cook rice util it is fluffy.
Ayurveda Tip:
- Lemon is good for all the three doshas, but best for vata. It increases digestion and increases appetite. Rice is light to digest and pacified vata and pitta.
