Recipes: Oats Soup

Dosha benefits: Pitta

Ingredients:

  • Oats 1 cup
  • Green chillies 1 (finely chopped)
  • Onion 1/2 (finely chopped)
  • Garlic 1 clove (minced)
  • Water 1 cup
  • Coconut or Almond Milk 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 2 tsp
  • Pepper powder a pinch
  • Coriander for garnishing

Recipe:

  • Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions, green chillies and garlic for 4-5 minutes. 
  • Now add the oats and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add salt and water and let it come to a boil. 
  • Now add the Coconut or Almond milk and pepper powder to it, and bring to a boil.
  • Garnish the rich and creamy oats soup with coriander or green onions. 
  • Serve piping hot with a slice of bread.

Ayurveda Tip:

  • You can also add a pinch of garam masala or cumin powder to make the soup more flavorful
  • Oats can be made to help balance all three doshas. It can be made sweet with Jaggery to balance Vata dosha.
